5 Diseases your Dog can Fight against – Pet Vaccinations

Dogs are like humans in many ways. They are prone to various diseases and they need proper care and vaccinations so they can successfully protect themselves. This post will illustrate just some of the diseases that a pet can effectively fight against with proper care and vaccination. While a complete cure for some of these diseases is still not available, as long as you help your dog follow a proper nutrition and exercise regimen, its defense system will be able to counter and prevent infections.

1. Rabies: This is a very common dog disease. It spreads through saliva and is caused by a virus affecting the central nervous system of the dog. There are multiple stages of rabies and the third and final stage is usually fatal.

2. Distemper: Arguably the worst dog disease, distemper is a potentially fatal dog disease and is likely to occur in almost 50% of adult dogs and a terrifying 80% in puppies. It is also very contagious and can spread fairly quickly.

3. Parvovirus: This is another highly contagious disease that affects the intestinal tract of dogs and the heart. Some common symptoms include cough, diarrhea and depression.

4. Leptospirosis: The worrying factor with this disease is that it can also spread to humans. Several species of bacteria have now been identified to produce this disease in dogs. Some common symptoms include fever, kidney inflammation and jaundice.

5. Kennel Cough: This is a fairly common disease among dogs affecting the respiratory system. The good news however is that it can be easily treated.

These are just a few of the diseases that your dog can develop. However, getting your pet proper vaccination, regular check-ups, good nutrition and a healthy exercise routine will ensure that your pet lives a long healthy life.
